Hazox® Formula/Bill of Materials Interface |

A major compliance challenge confronting organizations concerns the dynamic process of product development. Formulations are constantly reworked as companies strive to maintain a competitive advantage, resulting in the release of new and improved products at a frenetic pace. Unfortunately, regulatory departments are often overlooked in the process, resulting in urgent, reactive action to avert product shipping delays.
Seemingly minor formulation changes may have significant environmental and chemical reporting implications. The Bill of Materials (BOM) interface was designed to accommodate these changes, allowing Hazox® to read a product’s formulation data directly from an ERP system. When a product’s formula is entered in the ERP system, Hazox® has enough information to begin building the (M)SDS. By kicking off this process early in the manufacturing cycle, Hazox can have (M)SDS’s ready for distribution by the time a new (or newly formulated) product is manufactured and ready to ship.
The BOM server then extracts the list and quantities of ingredients from the finished product’s formula and stores the bill of material information in the Hazox production database as chemical, product and component data.
This module also allows users to get characteristic data from an ERP system, giving Hazox instant access to chemical information (such as flashpoints, pH, density, transportation information, UN/NA #, proper shipping name, hazard class, packaging group, etc.) In making ERP system data available for use in Hazox, this module eliminates the duplication of data and effort to maintain it across separate systems.
